Spectrovial® Comminution and Blending Vials For Ball Pestle Impact Sample Grinders
SpectroVials comminution vessels are used in conjunction with SpectroMill Ball Pestle Impact Grinders. Together with ball pestles, they constitute the blending grinding media for powdered sample preparations for XRF analysis.
Available in different materials to impart various degrees of hardness, they are cleverly designed with concaved interior ends. The contours serve to impart myriad points of sample impact, shattering and mulling actions for blending and grinding applications. Equally important is the complete elimination of pockets or areas normally present in flat-bottom vials that tend to accumulate sample particles and elude processing.
SpectroVials are manufactured in different materials for hardness consideration and in assorted sizes. They are designed for accommodation by both SpectroMill®-I and II Ball Pestle Impact Grinders.
Polystyrene SpectroVials® Comminution Vials
Polystyrene is a clear, rigid plastic fairly resistant to breakage. The exterior ends are re-enforced with ribbed structures to increase ball pestle impact resistance. They are most useful for blending powders and comminuting relatively soft samples. The friction-fitting caps integrate tabs for easy disassembly. Methyl methylmethacrylate ball pestles are suggested.

Agate SpectroVials Comminution Vials
Agate is a naturally occurring fine-grained form of quartz. It is noted for its hardness that makes it suitable for comminuting very hard materials with reduced transition elemental contamination to the sample. Typically less than 0.02% of: Na, Mg, Al, K, Ca and Fe. Because of its natural occurrence, elements and concentrations will vary. This material is prone to fracture and is supplied without any warranty expressed or implied. Interior ends are concaved. Encased in an anodized aluminum container for added protection. Agate ball pestles suggested.
