Evacuable Briquetting Dies
Stainless steel evacuable dies are precision crafted, ground to very close tolerances and subjected to stringent quality control inspection. They are unrivaled in material, craftsmanship, tolerances, performance and appearance.
The dies are heat-treated for resisting scratches and scoring when briquetting samples substantially harder than the die hardness. This condition is mostly created by the nonuse of compressible tapered pellet cups or undersized straight-walled pellet cups that increase the chance of sample particle spillage and entrapment between the die bore and metal pellets. This difficulty is generally overcome by using compressible tapered aluminum pellet cups. They are manufactured with a tolerance very close to the die sets with little clearance for collecting spillages but enough to allow the filled sample cup to gently float down to the bottom of the die on a cushion of air balanced by the weight of the sample.
For XRF applications, three diameters are available to produce 32, 35 and 40 mm samples. Supplied with a side arm for attaching a vacuum hose in briquetting conditions dictating evacuation. Consists of: base, main cylindrical body, two optically polished stainless steel pellets, plunger, collection cup and a set of “O” rings for vacuum applications. The maximum force is indicated on each die set as a safety reminder.
